Cada semana, SISALMONI mide el precio al que los exportadores noruegos venden el salmón atlántico fresco, calidad Superior, FCA Oslo. El índice se calcula cada martes a partir de las facturas de un panel de exportadores: transacciones reales, no encuestas ni estimaciones. Cubre nueve clases de peso, de 1-2 kg a más de 9 kg, una media ponderada de todos los tamaños y el índice 3-6 kg, en coronas noruegas y en euros por kilo.

El índice SISALMONI 3-6 kg es el subyacente del contrato de futuros de salmón de Euronext. Según Fish Pool, que pertenece al grupo Euronext, constituye el 100 % de su precio de liquidación desde el 22 de julio de 2024, y Euronext designó a FinanceAgri para suministrar este índice spot semanal. SISALMONI tomó el relevo del Nasdaq Salmon Index, suspendido en agosto de 2024. Su administrador, FinanceAgri, está registrado bajo el reglamento europeo de índices de referencia (BMR) y supervisado por la AMF.

What SISALMONI measures

A set of indices measuring export sales prices of fresh Atlantic Superior salmon (FCA Oslo), computed from documented invoices — actual transactions, not surveys or journalistic assessments. 11 benchmarks: 9 weight classes (1–2 kg → 9+ kg), one grand weighted average, and the 3–6 kg index. Computed every Tuesday 15:00 CET, in NOK/kg and EUR/kg.

The contributor panel

11 Norwegian exporters, each holding a valid export licence and selling a minimum of ~5 loads per week (~5,000 t/year). Contributions flow through a secured system hosted at AWS France. All contributors sign a code of conduct (data integrity, no price manipulation, BMR compliance) — violations can lead to exclusion from the panel.

The 3–6 kg formula

Index3-6 = 30% × P3-4 + 40% × P4-5 + 30% × P5-6

Each class price is volume-weighted. This is the settlement price of the Euronext European Salmon Futures contract.

Concentration safeguards

25% rule: no single contributor can weigh more than 25% of total volume (applied twice), then a 50% rule caps any contributor within each weight class. Validation thresholds: minimum 2 contributors and 500 kg per class — otherwise the nearest class is used.

What gets excluded

Fixed-price contracts (≥4 weeks at the same price), pre-negotiated campaigns, contracts already indexed on SISALMONI, intra-group invoices (>50% ownership) — plus discretionary exclusions for non-representative fish or extraordinary circumstances. Every rejection is logged with its justification.

Governance & separation

Data collection and analysis in Rennes; index administration in Paris — hierarchically independent. Roles: Data Managers → Index Expert → Compliance Officer → General Manager (final approval). Variable pay linked to index levels is prohibited; trading in the underlying is prohibited. Annual compliance audit on recorded communications.

Surveillance & complaints

Session-to-session moves beyond 0.2% (3–6 kg index) or 0.4% (other classes) trigger investigation. Complaints: acknowledged within 8 business days, resolved within 1 month by the Compliance Officer, with independent third-party recourse. All records kept a minimum of 5 years.

Methodological continuity since 2013

SISALMONI succeeded the NASDAQ Salmon Index in August 2024 — same invoice-based weekly discipline, an unbroken series since 2013, now under EU BMR regulation. That continuity is what makes the benchmark contract-grade.
