SISALMONI, the Atlantic salmon price index
SISALMONI measures every week the export sales price of fresh Superior-grade Atlantic salmon, FCA Oslo. It is administered in Paris by FinanceAgri under the EU Benchmarks Regulation (BMR) and is the settlement price of the salmon futures listed on Euronext. It replaced the Nasdaq Salmon Index in 2024, continuing the series published since 2013, with strengthened technical requirements.
What the index publishes
Every week, SISALMONI publishes 11 reference prices: one per weight class, from 1-2 kg to over 9 kg, the weighted average of all classes, and the 3-6 kg index, which is the market reference.
Where the prices come from
Prices come from actual invoices, not surveys or estimates. According to the published methodology (version 1.4, January 2026), the panel brings together 11 Norwegian exporters holding an export licence, each selling at least about five truckloads a week.
Safeguards against manipulation
No contributor may weigh more than 25% of total volume. A second rule caps each one at 50% within a weight class. Each class needs at least 2 contributors and 500 kg. Fixed-price contracts, pre-negotiated campaigns and intra-group invoices are excluded from the calculation.
Separate governance
Data collection and analysis take place in Rennes. Index administration takes place in Paris, in a team that is hierarchically independent. FinanceAgri has been registered under the BMR since 14 April 2020, supervised by the French AMF (ESMA register BMR2020001187).
