The Norwegian salmon spot price, every week
The spot price of fresh Atlantic salmon is set every week between Norwegian exporters and their customers in Europe and Asia. Its regulated benchmark is SISALMONI 3-6 kg, administered in Paris by FinanceAgri and used by Euronext to settle salmon futures.
How the spot price is measured
SISALMONI is calculated every Tuesday from invoices actually issued by a panel of Norwegian exporters, for fresh salmon delivered FCA Oslo. It measures transaction prices, not offers or indicative quotes. The price is published by weight class; the 3-6 kg class is the market reference.
Spot and forward
The spot price covers sales invoiced during the current week for prompt delivery. Prices for the coming months trade on Euronext, where the salmon contract is settled in euros against the average of the weekly SISALMONI 3-6 kg levels in the delivery month.
A complementary public source
Statistics Norway (SSB) publishes every Wednesday the average export price of fresh whole salmon, based on customs declarations and covering all sizes. The figure shows the trend, but it comes a week later and does not separate weight classes.
